Frequently Asked Questions

We aim to clear up all of your uncertainties by tackling specific test and tag regulations. Understanding these topics is essential, as they play a crucial role in maintaining a safe and compliant workplace.

Why do I have to have my appliances test and tagged?

OH&S legislation clearly mandates that you provide and maintain a safe workplace. Therefore, if you don’t test and tag your electrical appliances regularly, you won’t be able to determine whether they are safe. As a result, you may unknowingly expose your employees and business to significant risks.

Test and tagging to AS/NZS 3760 is a widely recognized way to fulfill those OH&S obligations.

What testing time-frame should I follow?

The frequency of testing varies between workplaces, depending on factors such as the level of risk involved and the environment in which the equipment is used. In most cases, businesses only require yearly inspections. However, some workplaces, especially those with high-risk environments, may need more frequent testing, ranging from daily to monthly.

Make sure your test and tag technician is aware of the time frames outlined in Table 4 of AS/NZS 3760. By doing so,you can ensure that your workplace complies with safety requirements. At GET Test & Tag, we take it a step further by ensuring that you stay on schedule. In addition, we send out courtesy inspection reminders to keep you on track.

What is involved in having them test and tagged?

According to our experienced test and tag specialists, a significant number of defects can be detected. In fact, many of these defects can be found through a basic visual inspection during the testing and tagging process.

The test and tag process involves 4 core steps:

  1. First, perform a visual and physical inspection of the appliance.
  2. Next, electrically test the appliance to ensure its safety.
  3. Then, record the outcomes of the inspection and testing process.
  4. Finally, tag the appliance to indicate its compliance and safety status.
